Muslim Community in Camberley have been here since the 1970s. It is a mix of muslims from different nationalities (Pakistan,Bangladesh,, Mauritius, Middle East, North Africa, Central Africa, India, and the good many muslims from the English community).
They had been hiring halls and community centres around camberley for their Friday Prayers until the acquisition of the current site. Thanks to the Al-Kharafi Family of Kuwait for helping us with their generous donation, the muslim community managed to buy the current school site. Since then muslims from about 10 mile radius or even more have visited the centre for prayers and the many activities that are held at the centre.
The mosque is managed and controlled by the Bengali Association. Activities are run by the permission of the Bengali Management Committee. Almost all of the activities are planned, run and organised by members from the Non-Bengali Community members. However the management gives approval to allow those activities based on their own interests and judgement.
Currently the Muslim Community from Non-Bengali origins have gathered to form their own organisation. The name of the organisation is Surrey Heath Muslim Association. This organisation is based on Islamic faith only and allows memberships of all muslims from diverse backgrounds.
